Puppy Rearing Protocol

Welcome to this corner of my world. Raising loyal companions for my clients has been a joy and privilege and I am happy you are here to learn more about what we do and why. Thanks for visiting and please reach out and say Hi. I love connecting with you all and discussing our Weimaraners and learning more about you and how we can help.

During the time your puppies are with us we will do our best to prepare them for life with you as a well-balanced and healthy dog. We start this process and then will equip you with the information to take the leash and carry on.

The first 3 days after birth are a time of rest, relaxation, and connection for Mom and puppies. We focus on keeping stress low for mama, her area warm and clean, and monitoring everyone constantly as things can go wrong in a short amount of time with both mom and pups. We check Mom many times a day for signs of mastitis and puppies for their body temperature and signs of dehydration. Puppies cannot regulate their temperature in the early days and rely on mom and littermates to stay warm so we make sure their room is the perfect temperature for them. While it is tempting to hold and carry pups around when they are this small and cute it is important that puppies spend the first two weeks safe under their mom’s care for proper development. All handling is done in their whelping box and we only do what we need to so we set a good foundation for the pups. This includes monitoring, checking weights, and after day 3 we will begin doing their Early Neurological Stimulation Exercises and Early Scent Introduction and well as gentle handling/cuddling.

Here is more information about both of these:

After this we slowly begin introduce them to different surfaces, sounds, and environments providing different learning opportunities each day. If any pup struggles we empower them to handle it. Handling exercises are done daily and modified weekly as well. Being with their mom and siblings will teach them a ton and we like to compliment that with things we have learned in the past 20 years of raising weims to help them have an even better start. Once they are old enough to play they learn proper socialization skills and have access to all sorts of enrichment activities in a controlled environment to learn how to handle stress, gain confidence, and become the best companion you could ask for. We will begin basic manners and crate exercises as well. This has made a huge difference for when the pups join their new families. We are always interacting with and listening to our clients feedback and adjust accordingly if there are things we can do to improve on the raising of our pups.

I look forward to sharing more about this process!

Adorable weimaraner puppies!

All puppies are CKC registered and come with a puppy package that includes Registration, Health Clearance, Puppy information, Vaccine Protocol and a copy of the Weimaraner Standard. Before puppies leave our location they are vet checked, vaccinated, dewormed, and micro chipped.

Here are pictures from our litters. It always amazes me how much and how fast they change. The first few days all they do is eat and sleep and soon they wake up to play with us when we go say hi. The first few weeks it is short lived as soon they all fall asleep on our laps but puppy cuddles are the best! Around 5 weeks old they really start playing and their little characters come through; they become very entertaining at this age too. Then the last 3 weeks fly by as we are always crazy busy feeding and socializing the pups as well as taking pictures, a vet visit, and fitting in all the visitors in between.

Please visit our Available Pups page for more information or Contact us. We would love to help you find the perfect weimaraner companion to join your family.

Enjoy the pictures!

New pictures of miss Rose. She was very good despite all the kids wanting her to look at them. I think the kids' box of Tim Hortons timbits might of helped; she wanted one very bad and will do anything for a taste! Rose has produced amazing pups that make excellent companions and are VERY eager learners. Her pups take to training so quickly and are very loyal to their families. She also has great hunting instincts that are being passed down to her pups. Many of them can be found pointing at squirrels and birds along their trail walks. All of our pups are CKC registered purebred weimaraners and are sold on Non-breeding contracts with a health guarantee.
Please contact us for more information or view our Available Puppies page to get on our list for a Weimaraner puppy. We have started a waiting list for our next litter and it fills up quickly. We would love to hear a little bit about you and what made you decide to get a weimaraner.

Exploring the backyard!

These were taken in the fall just before we lost the last of the leaves. The dogs are loving our new place and we are working hard to get it looking good. In behind the fence is a creek which the dogs LOVE playing by. It didn't take Rose long to figure out that by going through the water she could have free run of the neighbors field as well! Romeo soon followed and they both greeted me at the front door when I called them.
I hope to share some creek pictures in the spring when things start growing there again.

We are hoping to have puppy news soon. Please email us or check back soon!

Thanks for looking!
